In the winter months I get really cold hands, especially when typing, knitting, or crocheting, so I am always on the lookout for things to keep my fingers and wrists warm. I find mitts less restrictive than gloves and I have quite a few pairs so that I can mix and match what I am wearing. I think mitts help keep aches and pains in my wrists at bay during the cold weather too, as they keep everything nice and toasty!

I wanted to design a pair of mitts with a simple ‘Scandi’ feel, looking at pine forests and snowy landscapes as the inspiration. The beaded tree is a little tricky to create, but I am so happy with the way it turned out after lots of sampling!

To begin with the mitts are made as a flat piece from the top down, with the edging and cuffs made in the round afterwards. You can choose to make them with the beaded tree or without.
