Beaded Shoulder Bag
I have designed this easy crochet bag using basic crochet stitches with US terminology of chains, single crochet, half double crochets and double crochet stitches so it is not complicated but still has an overall affect of looking fabulous. For UK crocheters there is a stitch conversion for you in the abbreviations.
This pattern is very easy to follow with a concise step by step guide showing large images at each step. Of course, if you have any problems with the pattern, you are more than welcome to contact me via my Etsy Shop or by the email contact provided with the pattern download.
I have designed the bag in three pieces. A front and a back section, which are identical, and a long circular piece which forms the strap. The strap wraps around both sides of the bag giving it strength and durability. For this pattern I have used a 10 ply chunky cotton but I have also made this bag in a 12 ply cotton acrylic and it looks just as good but will be a little larger.
MATERIALS
YARN: I used 2 x 200g balls of 100% cotton 10 ply yarn for this bag. Any yarn that is chunky 10-12 ply approximately in cotton or cotton/acrylic would be suited to this project. Please take into account the gram size of the yarn you purchase. For example a 100g ball you will require 4/5 balls of yarn.
CROCHET HOOK: METRIC: Size 5.00mm - 5.50mm, USA: H/8 - I/9, UK: Size 6-5
DARNING NEEDLE: Able to thread on chunky yarn and fit through bead hole to thread onto yarn.
BEADS: 66 (33 beads for each side of bag) beads either 8mm or 10mm in diameter with a hole big enough to thread through yarn (if you are having difficulties finding beads that would be suitable, please contact me and I can help).
SIZE
Overall Drop Including Handle : 60cm (This is measured with the bag flat. Strap can be adjusted as required).
Width Of Bag: 40cm (This measurement was taken while bag was flat).
Depth Of Bag Middle: 30cm (This measurement was taken while bag was flat).
