Bean Critters
Fun little bean shaped critters with instructions to make a dog (with flopped ears or stick-up ears), a cat, and a guinea pig!
Gauge doesn’t matter. The size of your bean critter will depend on the size needle and yarn weight you use. My bean critters are about 3.5” tall and 2.5” wide using US size 4 needles and worsted weight yarn.
Skills needed:
Knitting in the round
KFB (knit front and back)
K2tog (knit 2 together)
Pick up stitches
Sewing pieces together
Materials:
• Double pointed needles or long circular needles for magic loop.
Choose a size at least 2-3 sizes smaller than what your yarn calls for to make sure the stuffing doesn’t peek through.
• Yarn of your choice – you only need a small amount for these guys!
• Safety eyes and noses.
• Stuffing (fiberfill or similar).
• Something to weight their bottoms. I use aquarium gravel but dry beans, plastic pellets, or anything small and hefty will work.
• Tapestry needle.
• Stitch marker.
• Pipe cleaners (for bendable dog and cat tails).
