This pattern is written for a large basket made with super bulky yarn. Any size basket can be made and any size yarn can be used. It’s a very flexible pattern. There are two different handle options, or you can make one without handles. Color change with this basket also looks nice.

Gauge is not really important with this pattern as you can make your basket as big or small as you want. In this pattern, the gauge is for a basket 11 to 12 inches in diameter using super bulky yarn & a 6.5mm hook.

The second basket featured in this pattern (the smaller black and gray basket with small handles) was made with:
2 strands of worsted weight yarn together
5mm hook
This produced a 9 to 10 inch basket, using approximately 1000 yards of yarn (4 skeins of Lion brand Heartland).

Materials needed:
-5 skeins (400 yards) size 6 super bulky yarn (I used Lion brand Hometown solid). See yarnsub.com for substitutions
-6.5mm crochet hook
-1 piece cardboard cut into a circle (10 inches in diameter)
-Plastic canvas sheet
-Electric tape, duct tape, packing tape or masking tape
-18 gauge wire (approximately 38 inches)
