Pattern Description:
A toasty beanie and an ultra-soft scarf for all the men in your life! The multi-row gradual shaping at the top of the beanie gives it that just right fit! Cold-weather classics in today’s favorite yarns. Silk Garden Solo’s stunning tonal color shifts and its sumptuous blend of silk, mohair & wool create this enviably easy-to-wear beanie. Chunky Baby Alpaca Grande gives this simple rib scarf amazing softness & warmth.
Like a beanie with a brim? Directions included for a Fold-Up Brim with a short row creating a turn row to keep the right-side cast on edge showing.

Materials for Beanie:
• 1 (2) Ball(s) Noro Silk Garden Solo (SGS), 45% Silk, 45% Mohair and 10% Wool;
110 yards/50 grams
o Color for cover picture: Choshi #50 (khaki green with tonal colored flecks)
o Color for Fold-Up Brim: Ureshino #51 (tan with multi-colored flecks)
• Size 7 and 8 – 16” circular needles and size 8 Denise flex double-pointed needles or size 8 double-pointed needles

Gauge: 4.5 sts to 1” = 9 sts to 2” in Stockinette stitch on size 8 needles. SGS has thick and thin areas so make a wider and longer swatch to check the gauge in more than one area.

Approximate Finished Circumference and Height Size:
Adult = 20” x 8 ½”, Toddler = 16” x 6 ½”, Child = 18” x 7 ½”, XL (Slouchy) = 22” x 9”

Notes:
• The beanie pictured above fits both women and men and takes only one ball of SGS. Toddler and Child beanie takes one ball of SGS. XL beanie takes 2 balls of SGS.
• The Fold-Up Brim Beanies take 2 balls of SGS.
• Noro Silk Garden can be substituted for Noro Silk Garden Solo.
• Use the leftover yarn from the Fold-Up Brim versions and smaller sized versions for a freestyle striped beanie.

Materials for Simple Ribbed Scarf:
• 3 Hanks Plymouth Baby Alpaca Grande, 100% Baby Alpaca; 110 yards/100 grams
o Color: Dark Denim # 638
• Size 11 straight wood needles (Brittany Birch Needles preferred) or size 11 – 24” circular needles

Gauge: 3 sts to 1” = 12 sts to 4” in knit 2, purl rib on size 11 needles with Baby Alpaca Grande. Lightly flatten the gauge swatch with your hand because the rib will naturally pull in. Gauge is not too important with this scarf because it is not a fitted garment.

Approximate Finished Size: 8” wide x 75” long (rib will pull in a bit)
