Bear
With pride I present my BEAR.
Bear (like Approaching Tiger and Pegasus) is a larger project and can take some time, but then you will have a heirloom.
Bear’s size will depend greatly on your chosen yarn. Light fingering yarn will give you a lap throw, DK will give you a bedspread.
As you are used of me Bear comes in two techniques:
Interlocking filet crochet including full solid in three-colours version, and a two-colour version, both with a classic background (used in Approaching Tiger to make a set) and a more quiet background with trees.
Overlay mosaic crochet comes also with 2 background, a 2-colour version and 3-colour version.
In Bear you will find a photo tutorial, tutorial with video links to my YouTube channel which shows you both techniques and tutorials for colour changing (if you want to do the 3 colour version)
Bear needs (based on light fingering yarn and a 3mm / C hook) 3500 m, 4000 y for the dark pattern colour and 4000 m, 4400 y for the background colour (3 colour version: 2500 m, 2750 y light, 1750 m, 2250 y shading)
Border (keep in mind they eat yarn):
Yarn estimation (based on light fingering weight and 3 mm / C hook):
Envelope border: dark colour 1700m, 1900y, light colour: 700m, 770y
Single border (for interlocking): dark colour 900m, 1000y, light colour 700m, 770y
Size based on light fingering 150 by 200 cm, 60 by 80 inches
Interlocking: 182 by 242 windows
Overlay mosaic: 365 stitches by 485 rows
I also have included a border which comes in written pattern and chart (you can use this border for both techniques)
The files are large (sometimes over 100 pages) as I have included multiple versions, photo tutorials and large printable charts. So please read the index first before printing and only print what you need.
The small charts are great to work with on a tablet (you can zoom them 8000 times) and take a little time to load. I would advise Knitcompation (those sliders are great and they have a free version) to read this pattern on your tablet, but any pdf reader will do.
There are only four files in this pattern, but they are extensive:
Overlay Mosaic Crochet 2 files:
Bear Mosaic Classic.pdf (same background as Approaching Tiger) comes with large printable x charts, small charts, written pattern
Bear Mosaic Trees.pdf (background with trees) comes with large printable charts, small charts, written patterns for 3 colour and 2 colour version
Interlocking Filet Crochet 1 file:
Bear Interlocking.pdf comes with written pattern classic background for full solid and pattern colour solids only, written pattern for trees background same for full solid and pattern colour solids only, and written pattern for 3 colour version full solid. Both versions come with small zoomable charts
Border.pdf comes with written patten and chart for the Bear border
