Bear and Pine Tree Afghan
This afghan has a forest theme, a black bear and a pine tree, crocheted in the tapestry style but instead of using a chart, the row counts are provided. This style of working line-by-line instead of counting boxes on a graph can be an easier way of approaching the project. The background can be made in a variegated blue colorway, Red Heart has a color called Blues that would be perfect. Another background suggestion would be to work the lower half of afghan in a forest type colorway and the upper half in the blues colorway.
How to work pattern:
Example: white10, red8, white1, red10. Ch1, turn
This means you sc 9 full white stitches, on the 10th white stitch, complete it by pulling red through the last 2 loops to complete. You are now ready to work the red stitches. Sc 7 full red stitches, on the 8th red stitch, complete it pulling white through the last 2 loops to complete, sc 1 white stitch complete it by pulling red through the last 2 loops, work 10 full red stitches, ch1, turn. You will have 10 white, 8 red, 1 white, 10 red
