The bear beanie is a fun, quick, fluffy knit with mohair and fingering yarn held together for a furry texture (similar to the Pikachu, Koala and Fox Beanies but the easiest and most beginner-friendly of them all). The 1x1 ribbing provides added flexibility for different head sizes. Smaller needles are used for the first 2 inches for a snug fit around the brim. Sizing adjustments are provided for baby, toddler, child and adult sizing.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Circumference: 13-15” (33-38cm) 17”(43cm) unstretched. Note: Because of 1x1 ribbing, the finished circumference fits a range of sizes, however, brim length instructions are longer for larger sizes (see below). Height: 4, 5 (5.5, 6)] inches 11.5, 12.5 (14,15) cm unstretched.

NEEDLES
Gauge needle: Size 3.5 mm (US 4) - 16”/40 cm circular needles for magic loop or DPNs.
Brim: Size 3.25mm (US 3) - 16”/40 cm circular needle or DPN for the brim.

Baby sizing calls for US 1.5 needles and a single strand of fingering (or whatever size obtains the closest gauge).

GAUGE
In 1x1 ribbing: 25sts x 29 rows = 4 inches (10cm) using larger needles Note: Because of the stretch provided by the 1x1 ribbing, achieving an exact gauge is not crucial.

Baby sizing: 28sts x 34 rows in 1x1 ribbing with a single strand of fingering.

MATERIALS
In addition to the main colour (MC), a small amount of grey is used for the inside of the ears as well as optional stuffing; 3 x stitch markers; and a tapestry needle to weave in ends. A cable needle is also optional.
