Lovey pattern inspired by the vintage doily pattern, as shown in pattern PDF. This pattern is adaptable to multiple yarn weights--adjust needle size, as necessary.

Note: This pattern does NOT complete the full doily pattern. The full original doily pattern, as well as a blanket version are available here: https://theraineysisters.com/?cat=51

I converted the 1942 doily pattern into a bear lovey to donate to HEALing Embrace, a non-profit who provides support to families experiencing pregnancy and infant loss (up to one year). One of the many ways this group provides support to families is through weighted birthday bears. It isn’t uncommon for the parent’s arm to physically ache with emptiness after a loss. HEALing Embrace cherishes the ability to be able to fill the emptiness of families’ arms with the weight of their “Birthday Bears.“ However, the weighted bears can only be made above a certain weight. These bear loveys are made to provide a smaller bear for early miscarriages. For more information about this organization, or to donate bear loveys, please visit: https://www.healingembrace.org .
