Since Ely, Mn (the town our shop is located in) has the International Bear Center, we made a Mitten (and matching hat) to celebrate our woodland friend.

A somewhat traditional Scandinavian mitten with a rounded top providing more room for your fingers. worked from the bottom up in stranded color work.

We used Finullgarn, but any fingering weight yarn will work.

Yarn needed:
Background color (cream) – 191 yards
Bear Color – 95 yards
Leaves – 65 yards
Red – 50 yards

Sizing
Finished measurement is ~8” around and 9.75” high.

Yarn
Rauma Finullgarn or any fingering weight yarn that will knit at 8 sts. to 1”

Gauge
8 sts. to 1 inch in Color work

Needles
12” Circular (or desired needles for short circular knitting)- Size 2
Double Pointed - Size 2
