Beatrix Hat
Experimenting with Distitch I developed a new stitch pattern,
which I call DS False rib. It looks like Brioche ribbing, but only
on one side. DS False rib is easier to work than Brioche, when
knitted in the round it only uses knit stitches and knit special
Distitches. It is thick and decorative, which makes it ideal for a
hat.
This hat, using DS False rib in the round, starts with an Italian
cast-on and finishes with a 6-wedge crown.

Any soft worsted yarn is recommended.
Size
44 cm (17.25”) brim circumference, 23 cm (9”) height,
to fit adult head size 55-57 cm (21.75-22.5”)
Yarn
Any yarn can be used.
Sample uses: 80 g of Moonshine in colour 7 Camp Fire
Yardage
160 yards of worsted weight wool yarn
Needles
3.5 mm (US 4) circular needles for Italian cast-on
7.0 mm (US 10.5) circular needles, or size to obtain
the gauge, for working in the round including small
circumferences
5.5 mm (US 9) DPNs for finishing the crown

19 sts x 42 rows = 10 cm (4”) square in DS False rib stitch pattern using 7 mm (US 10.5) needles
