The second design for 2023’s N Club is Beauteous! Boy, oh boy, she’s Bootyfull - a real beaut! In secret I call her Beauteous Maximus !

Beauteous plays with two contrasting yarns from two fabulous dyers, Emma’s Yarn and PassionKnits. They contrast both in weight and color… ‘cause I like to play around!

If you ask me, Beauteous is the perfect combination of complicated and chill knitting! It starts off strong with a beaded double sided lace panel. The beads are incorporated into wrapped stitches that emulate the center of a flower. I found a version of this stitch in a Japanese Stitch dictionary, altered it to suit, and added beads, ‘cause that’s how I do! Wings are then worked off this center panel and then stitches are picked up along the body of the shawl from wing tip to wing tip, and a bottom border is worked downwards starting with garter stitch and ending with a version of that lace stitch you started with.
