I think the Beautiful Bow Turban Hat is one of the most unique hats i have designed.

Can you believe it starts out being a rectangle? When you follow the step-by-step assembly instructions included in the pattern, you have this super stylish hat with ribbing that flows into each other and an option of a bow or not depending upon the wearer’s mood. The bow makes a bold statement. It can be worn in the front, on the side or on the back. Either way, I say, go bold or go home!

The Beautiful Bow Turban Hat is part of my Cancer Hat Series, hence the “cancer ribbon awareness symbol” on the pattern. Hats in this series not only have to be stylish to help the wearer feel good about themselves as they battle through their cancer journey, but they also have to be functional. These hats are suitable for anyone, but because of their specific design details they are especially appropriate for those dealing with the side effects from cancer and chemo treatments such as hair loss, sensitive heads, and feeling cold. Yarns, stitches, and design all play a part in making them suitable to be included in this series.

Gauge
Another unique design feature about this hat is that it is not made to gauge. Instead it is made to measurements. One measurement for the circumference and another for the hat height. I like this features as it allows for all the differences in crochet tension, yarn weights and yarn stretch. My design, pictured in the red, has been made with double strands of #4 weight yarn but it can be made with other weights and hook sizes if you stick to the measurements.

Level: Beginner -3
I would classify this hat a beginner pattern as it it made from a rectangle. However, it starts with a foundation row using FSC and FHDC which can be trickier. There are detailed instructions on how to make theses stitches, in fact, my testers said my instructions are the best they have seen and that “they will save them it for reference”. If you follow the instructions, I think even a beginner can tackle this pattern.
