This pattern originally appeared in Knitter’s 40, Fall 1995. Cable patterned pullover is worked in the round to armholes in three sizes from S 40” to L 48 1/2”.<p> Quoted from the designer:
“I lived in Stuttgart, Germany, near the Black Forest, for two years. A few kilometers south was the tiny town of Bebenhausen. I often visited its Cistercian monastery, which dates from 1190. Although the monks live austere lives, their chapels and cloister are decorated in a Celtic celebration of plants, zooomorphic animals, and knotwork. Even the wooden pillars supporting the roofs have marvelous cable designs snaking up them. The wrought iron tracery on the windows of the cloister inspired this sweater.”
