I came up with this stitch when I decided to recreate the bumpy texture on a knitted vest - even though I can’t knit:).

The bebop stitch uses a combination of techniques. Repeated over a larger surface, it creates a beautiful, vibrant texture. Worked in flat rows, it is great for baby blankets, throws and scarves.

The pattern includes gauge directions for worsted weight yarn and a 5mm / H hook, but you can make it with any kind of yarn/hook combo you like! There’s also an example which will give you a general idea of how many chains to start with for a scarf / baby blanket etc.

Pattern contains written instructions, plus clear charts for every step. It works up really quickly, so you could have a scarf in a couple of hours! Indicated yardage is for a big scarf in worsted or sports weight yarn.

I recommend using a not too stretchy type of yarn, that’s why I recommended cotton blends. Acrylics or wool / acrylic blends would also work perfectly.
