Bedelia
“Bedelia” means powerful and strong.
I would also call this necklace feminine with all the beads around the entire neckline and then there is a bit of a lace pattern.
Knitted on a size 4 circular needle 16” in length, this project is a pretty quick one and fun to boot. I bet you won’t stop at just one….
One size fits all. You only need about 26 yards of fingering weight yarn, so this is a great stash yarn project. A button 10 to 15mm in diameter and 135 beads in size 6 are needed as well as a crochet hook size 6 (1mm) and a darning needle.
Written instructions and a video link is included on how to add beads with a crochet hook.
Shown here is the vanilla colored one in a woolen/cashmere yarn and the berry colored one was knitted in a cotton/rayon blend. You can see how different they look from one another, as one has more drama with the contrasting beads and the other one blends more.
Techniques used:
VDD= Vertical Double Decrease, explained in Glossary.
Placing beads, see video link.
Enjoy your “Bedelia” necklace!
