Bedhead PJ Unicorn
I was asked to make a “Spirit Animal” of myself! This might have been the biggest no-brainer ever! Some things were especially important, however:
- I need to be a Unicorn.
- Purple hair is a must- but it has to be a disaster of hair!
- PJ’s must be worn.
Thus: Bedhead PJ Unicorn is me, in yarn form, and I love her.
This pattern is crocheted from the bottom-up and joined in-the-round except for the head.
PJ’s are created using simple flat pieces sewn together. A small amount of embroidery is used for kitty faces (In real-life I would have unicorn faces, but that just seemed wrong for PJ)!
Yarn: 150 yards worsted weight in glitter white; small amount of pink, purple, silver. 100 yards cotton in pale pink and white for PJ’s and T-shirt.
Embroidery thread: Pale pink and silver grey for kitty faces.
Safety eyes (if used): 10mm green. (This is my spirit animal and I’ve got green eyes, you may use your own eye color if you like)
2mm black beads (4) for cat slipper eyes.
Darning needle.
Felting needle/black/white/green yarn fluff (optional) for eyes (or embroidery thread).
Wire cat brush for mane, tail (optional but needed for bedhead).
Polyfil. I use Polyfil brand crafter’s choice dry polyester packing for doll making; I find this works the most effectively with shaped/sculpted pieces without over-stretching stitches.
Hook: 3.5mm (or similar). 6.0mm for T-shirt.
