I’ve been thinking and reading about wild native bees lately. I’ve seen some coming out of their “over winter” shelters thinking it’s spring. They are such beautiful little creatures.

I’ve observed that many people are starting to keep honey bees and help to protect them, but what about all the wild bees? There are actually over 20,000 species of bees, and natural ecosystems are their only home. The wild bees need us to plant native plants.

I hope this little sock design will be a reminder to my knitting friends that we should help protect our native bee populations by planting native flowers and creating native habitats for the bees whenever and wherever we can.
