Bees and Blossoms baby-set
The pattern includes instructions for the blanket as well as for the romper.
THE BLANKET
A richly patterned baby-blanket, with lace, textures and rib-patterned borders. The patterning consists of 5 section, that can be repeated endlessly, or worked in different orders.
As the pattern is constantly changing, this is a very fun knit with lots of knitting interest.
And, why limit it to be a baby-blanket?
It will be beautiful worked up to any size.
Size
The width of the sample is 70 cm = 27.5”
The length of the sample is 80 cm = 31.5”
This size is perfect for wrapping up the baby in cosiness, and also big enough for folding double over a stroller.
You may easily modify the sizing by subracting/adding pattern-repeats (or work to a looser/tighter gauge).
Materials
Yarn: I used Organic Cotton from Krea Deluxe. This sport weight yarn comes in balls of 50 gr/1.76 oz and 165 m/185 yards. I recommend any fingering/sport with great stitch-definition that knits up to gauge. Of the specific yarn above you will need 5 balls to work the size of the sample. Needles: a circular needle, 80 cm/32” (or longer), size 3 mm/US2.5.
Gauge
25 sts and 35 rows in pattern/stockinette sts = 10 x 10 cm/4 x 4”
THE ROMPER
The romper is worked bottom up and seamlessly, starting from a lower back and lower front that are joined for working in the round until the underarm. The upper back and front are worked in separate pieces.
The lace and textured patterning is found on the blanket, which makes this a really cute set.
Sizes
Newborn / 6 months
Finished chest: 40/48 cm = 15/19”
Length, measured from the buttoned bottom to the top of the front:
(not including the shoulder-straps): 28/40 cm = 11/15.75”
Materials
Yarn: I recommend that you use a fingering/sport weight yarn that knits up to gauge. I used Organic Cotton from Krea Deluxe, colour-way 54 to work the romper. Of this specific yarn you will need approximately 175/275 m =190/300 yards Needles: straight or circular needles, size 3 mm/US2.5 for the lower bottom pieces, and the yokes.
A small circular needle, or a set of DPNS, size 3 mm/US2.5 to work the main body in the round. Notions: 4 removable stitchmarkers. 6 buttons, 1 cm/0.3” across.
Gauge 25 sts and 35 rows/rounds in stockinette/lace-pattern = 10 x 10 cm/4 x 4”
