Bees On Heather
“Bees On Heather”
The yarn I have used for this shawl gave me the inspiration for this piece.
It is hand dyed by Honey Girl Farms and the hues of purples and pinks give light to me of bees foraging across the heather on the glens of Scotland.
The stitch I have used for the main body of the shawl adds texture that I see from the rocks on the glen sides that provide resting positions for all kinds of wildlife amongst the heather.
This in turn gives rise to the bee hive its self and I’ve added the honeycomb traditional cable stitch to incorporate that into the design, both to the neck edge and as a swath across the shawl.
It is a dk weight shawl, that is suitable more for shoulder hugging than wrapping around the body. The dimensions are, as always included in the pattern.
I would advise having some cable experience before starting this piece.
It is worked flat, top down and the pattern is written row by row with no charts.
