Beeutiful Honeycomb Blanket
Make this Bee-utiful Honeycomb Blanket with a combination of moss stitch motifs. In this pattern, combine the moss stitch hexagon, trapezoid and half-hexagon. With a little crochet magic, the moss stitch has been reimagined into this unique and easy-to-crochet blanket.
Not only does the pattern include instruction for all these shapes, it also includes detailed instruction for crocheting them all together.
This is the companion pattern for the video series the Bee-utiful Honeycomb Blanket. This tutorial systematically demonstrates how to make the hexagon, trapezoid and half-hexagon. Then, another video in the series show the assembly when the inner border is added. A fifth video shows the techniques to add the outer border.
Use a mix of scrap yarns in shades of yellow and an H hook. You will need 18 oz of yellow tones and an additional 12 oz for the inner and outer borders for a 35 x 50 inch throw. However, increase the amout of yarn and make it bigger.
But what’s a honeycomb without a resident Honey Bee? Meet Buzz the Honey Bee. In the final video in the series, learn to crochet a Honey Bee applique for the blanket or just turn Buzz into a doll and let him fly around with his friends on a mobile. Buzz’s video debut is June 25, 2023! He uses about 1 oz brown and 1 oz yellow with a G hook for the body. For the wings, you will need about 1 ounce of ecru sport weight yarn and an E hook.
The pattern includes both the Honeycomb Blanket and the Honey Bee. So why not crochet-a-long!
