Beginner Knit Class Scarf
Beginning knitters, those who can cast on, knit and purl, are eager to knit a wearable project while learning to read a simple pattern and expand their skills to include increasing and decreasing. This little scarf is designed for them, but may be just the fashion accessory for those who are more accomplished but need a sweet project for social knitting or binging on shows. Finished measurements are about 50 inches in length and 10 inches in depth at the widest point blocked. It is a very elongated triangle. Knit with one skein (420 yd.) of sock yarn, heavy fingering, or sport weight, it is an economical yet jaunty embellishment to a tee shirt or a jeans jacket.
Gauge for the project is 22 stitches and 30 rows in blocked garter stitch for. 4” square. However, the sock yarn used was lofty and fuzzy and resulted in a beautiful fabric using a US size 4 needle. Gauge for this project is not critical but will result in different yardage and finished size. Use the needle size that results in the fabric you love for the yarn of your choice!
