Beginner's 5 Sizes Toe Up Socks
It’s time for atma’s deeper search…releasing of the inner child. The heart never stops yearning. Dance to your inner tandava. Searching the deeper insightful nature gives me sukoon and the comfort of silence. Seeing so many knitters on public forum in search of a simple recipe for knitting socks led me to design these toe up socks for your knitting pleasure. (In case you prefer Top Down Socks, please check out my Beginner’s 5 Sizes Top Down Socks pattern.)
No matter what comes our way in the future, it is love which takes care of today, for us to build a better tomorrow. Love is better when it is always shared. Love is not love till it is given away! Make lots of these socks for your sock drawer and make many to gift away. Anyone who has worn a pair of hand crafted socks knows that they are incomparable….simply wonderful.
If you have a definite tendency to knit too tightly, the sock will not have any stretch. Please work a swatch in the round to see if your gauge is correct. After beginning, a litmus test is by knitting four inches of pattern and checking to see if the sock stretches and fits. You may be happy to compare it to the stretchiness of another hand knit sock. Please use the recommended yarn and needle size specified. Read the whole pattern instructions before you begin.
These socks fit most women and men. They have been designed to stretch for a good fit. The foot should go in. They should fit your ankles, but at the same time, stretch to accommodate your leg. If the specified yarn isn’t used, you may not have a good amount of natural stretch from the knitting.
Feel free to use your favourite cast on methods. The Sock is worked with only one 100gms ball, but the Cuff, Heel Flap and the Toes may be worked in a Solid Contrast Colour, if you prefer. Change the colour scheme if you like.
To give a good finishing touch, you may be happy to block your socks at the end. It helps to even the socks out and relaxes the yarn. They definitely look a lot better, especially for gifting. If you don’t have a sock blocker, you may lightly steam them and block them flat. Don’t sweat if you don’t possess Sock blockers, ‘cos they block on your feet when worn!!!
