Beginners Baby Beanie Hat
I have designed this pattern with the beginner knitter in mind. Using simple knit and purl stitches the self-striping yarn helps to create a lovely hat which looks far more complicated to make than it actually is. Knitted flat on two needles this is a great pattern for using up all those small balls of yarn left over from larger projects.
Great for both baby boys and baby girls simply choose your colours accordingly.
The pattern gives instructions to make the hat in 4 sizes:
Premature Baby
0-3 Months
3-6 Months
6-12 Months
On the model hat I used Sirdar Baby Crofter DK Yarn which is a light worsted weight but there are many self patterning yarns available.
SKILLS REQUIRED: You need to be able to knit, purl, increase and decrease
YARN: 1 x 50g Ball of DK self patterning yarn (makes two hats)
Approx 8g Oddment of contrasting DK yarn (light worsted) for rib of hat
Optional: Satin Bow or Embellishment of Choice
NEEDLES: The hat is knitted flat
3.25mm (UK10, US3) and 4mm (UK8, US6)
TENSION/GAUGE: 22sts & 30 Rows to 10cm (4in) square in stocking (stockinette) stitch on 4mm (US Size 6) needles
