This project is designed for beginning knitters to gain confidence and proficiency in using knit and purl stitches nine different ways. Blocks are knit separately and sewn together later. This offers knitters practice in using the mattress stitch to create smooth seams. Pattern directions are written and charted offering knitters opportunities to learn the skills of following both types of instructions.
