Once beginning knitters have learned to cast on, knit and purl, it is time to begin a wearable project that will not only offer practice in using those basic skills, but will also expand their skill base. A basic ribbed brimmed beanie style hat provides opportunities at practicing the transition from the knit stitch to the purl stitch, knitting in the round, and learning one method of decreasing, and increasing. The crown of the hat introduces the utilization of magic loop. Stitch markers are used to indicate the beginning of the round and where to decrease. Best of all, using less than one skein of worsted weight yarn, the hat is an inexpensive project that is quick to accomplish.

This hat is sized for an adult medium head measuring 19 - 23”.
