Beginner's Socks
An expanded pattern is now available : https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/beginners-socks-...
An easy beginner sock pattern for a pair of ‘house socks’.
(I wrote this for my beginner’s sock class.)
For ankle length socks one skein of Wool-Ease should be enough. Get two skeins if you want taller socks.
Note: The previous version was written specifically for 4 dpns. The new revision (11/2010) is written for 5 dpns.
There is a tutorial pattern available for purchase that includes directions for magic loop and two circular method. Look for ‘Beginner’s Socks Tutorial Pattern’.
errata -
Revision 2: in Row 4 of the Heel turn section, it calls for a k2tog, when it should be an SKP, like the other right side rows. The new revision has these items fixed.
First issue of pattern: There is an error in the toe decrease section - it should read “You should have 10 sts on needle 1, 20 sts on needle 2, and 10 sts on needle 3.” (Thanks SaraO!)
Revision changes:
(revision 1 - 4/26/08) - incorporates the errata correction, and has a couple other corrections/clarifications.
(revision 2 - 11/2010) - new pattern template applied, portions re-written for clarity, changed the dpn instructions, and added some tips for customizing fit.
(revision 3 - 1/3/2013) - fixed erratta and made a few clarifications.
