Behm Wash/Dish/Anycloth 1
I whipped up some Wash/Dish/Anycloths for my
niece’s wedding a little while ago. She loves bright
colors, so I thought it would be fun to play with
some unusual stripes.
Her new last name is Behm, so I’m just calling all
5 of the cloths I made for her and her new hubby
Behm cloths. I’m sure it will confuse the heck out
of some Germans on Ravelry (Behm is a German
name), but there it is.
Gauge: 5.25 stitches per inch in Blended Stripes
stitch (adapted from Barbara Walker’s Blended
Stripes stitch in A Second Treasury of Knitting
Patterns). This makes a cloth that is 9 inches
square. If you don’t mind a slightly different size,
however, you can work at whatever gauge you
like best.
Yarn: Worsted-weight cotton yarn. I used
Kertzer’s Coolspun Cotton in White for color B and
Mardi Gras for color A. One cloth used less than 1
ball of each color.
A reader pointed out: I found an error in Row 2 in the copy of the PDF that downloaded and I thought I’d let you know about it.
It’s written: “Row 2 (using color B): K1, K3, s1wyif to the last stitch; k1.”
This doesn’t end the row evenly and I couldn’t get color pattern to work, but I added in another “s1wyif” between the first K1 and the K3 and the resulting color pattern looks a lot more like your photo.
Thanks for the catch!
