Belcarra Cowl
About:
The name Belcarra means ‘the village of the weir’ or river-crossing. The Belcarra Cowl is named for the tiny village of the same name, which is located in County Mayo, Ireland.
The Belcarra Riverside Walk and Nature Trail is a tranquil place that provides the opportunity to observe many natural features of landscape and wildlife. The meandering path that goes through this cowl reminds me of the river. Both are surrounded by something worth noticing—the river by wildlife such as foxes, hares, and a variety of birds, and the cowl by graphic mosaic. Both allow time to stop and take a breath as you take in what surrounds you, be that wildlife and nature or time spent with your knitting in your hands.
Every detail of this pattern is carefully crafted to make your knitting time as relaxing as possible. There are both written and charted directions, with not only the mosaic charts but the full pattern, offered in both light on dark and dark on light so that you don’t have to try and switch them in your head!
This worsted-weight, mosaic cowl is a quick knit. Designed in two colors, it will allow you to play with color and imagine all the possible variations with this fun knit. This cowl works best in solid colors with a strong contrast.
Easy enough for a confident beginner knitter but captivating enough to keep experienced knitters’ needles moving. This quick stash-busting project is available in one size, with modifications offered to adjust the width and height!
