Belgian Waffle Dishcloth
The January 2024 Year of Dishcloths pattern is called Belgian Waffle, and is inspired by the delicious waffles (or gaufres) that are a special treat in Belgium, a country where I lived for a year. These waffles are different from North American breakfast waffles - they are denser and baked with yeast and have a delicious caramelized sugar coating. When I lived in Belgium, they were a popular street food and I think I ate one every day!
The dishcloth pattern is a fun and simple lace design with a pattern that reminds me of a waffle iron. It is quick to knit up and doesn’t require any fancy stitches. As always I knit mine with my favourite 100% cotton yarn, Estelle Sudz. You’ll need 1-50 g ball of worsted weight yarn and US 3/3.25 mm needles to knit the dishcloth.
