Belgian Waffles
- A mosaic baby blanket -

With its fluffy, waffle-like structure this baby blanket is reminiscent of the famous Belgian Waffles.
Whether it is a winter blanket made of soft merino wool or a summer blanket of cotton yarn…
with its clean, classic design it is a real eye-catcher.
It is knit in one piece in mosaic garter stitch.
There are no color changes within a row, no stranded knitting.
Simple slipped stitches create the mosaic color arrangement.
To bring out the best possible color effect, two contrasting colors are needed.
The large mosaic of the blanket is composed of 9 by 9 squares and 3 different square types.

Knitting skills needed
• cast on
• knit and purl
• slip purlwise (with yarn in front/with yarn in back)
• cast off

Dimensions
The blanket measures about 33 by 33 inches (85 x 85 cm). Depending on yarn weight and needle size, the dimensions may vary.

Material
• 1 long circular needle (US size 2.5 / 3 mm, 40 or 47 inches long)
• 500g of wool or cotton yarn (6-ply/Sport), 250g in color 1 and 250g in color 2
Cotton yarn is well suited for a summer blanket and can usually be washed in the washing machine (sometimes up to 60°C), (merino) wool or blended wool yarns are warmer than cotton. Winter blankets made of wool are therefore warm and cozy.
Choose two contrasting colors to bring out the mosaic color effect.

Die Belgian Waffles Babydecke erinnert mit ihrer soften, waffelartigen Struktur an die berühmten Belgischen Waffeln.
Ob aus weicher Merinowolle als Winterdecke oder aus Baumwollgarn als Sommerdecke…
mit ihrem klaren, klassischen Design ist sie ein echter Blickfang.
Im Hebemaschen-Mosaikmuster wird die Decke in einem Stück gestrickt.
Es gibt keine Farbwechsel innerhalb einer Reihe.
Das farbliche Muster entsteht nur durch einfache Hebemaschen.
Damit das Mosaikmuster gut zur Geltung kommt, brauchst du zwei kontrastierende Farben.
Aus 9 mal 9 Quadraten und 3 verschiedenen Quadrattypen setzt sich das große Mosaik der Decke zusammen.

Was Du können solltest
• Maschen anschlagen,
• rechte und linke Maschen stricken,
• Maschen links abheben (mit dem Faden hinter/vor der Masche),
• Maschen abketten

Maße
Die Decke ist ca. 85 x 85 cm groß. Die Maße können je nach Garn- und Nadelstärke variieren.

Material
• 1 lange Rundstricknadel (3 mm, 100/120 cm lang)
• 500g Wolle/Baumwolle (6-fädig/Sport), davon 250g in Farbe 1 und 250g in Farbe 2
Baumwollgarn ist gut für eine Sommerdecke geeignet und kann meist auch in der Waschmaschine gewaschen werden (oft sogar bis zu 60°C), (Merino-)Wolle oder Mischgarne mit Wollanteil sind wärmender als Baumwolle. Winterdecken aus Wolle sind daher warm und kuschelig. Die zwei Farben sollten einen guten Kontrast zueinander bilden, damit das farbliche Muster gut zur Geltung kommt.
