The Bell Lace Stole is an approximately-rectangular stole with pointed ends. It is knit in two halves, from the end to the center, and then is grafted together with kitchener stitch. The pattern is charted, with written instructions for working from the chart.

While the width of the stole is determined by the type of yarn used and your gauge in that yarn, the length can be modified by knitting more or fewer repeats of Chart B. There are also two versions of the end chart: a Fancy version and a simpler Repeats version.

This can be knit with any fingering or lace-weight yarn. As a result, the gauge is just a suggestion; as long as you’re getting a open, somewhat drapy fabric with the yarn and needle size you’ve chosen, the actual gauge does not matter. You’ll also probably want to use a natural fiber that blocks well.

Techniques: knit, purl, knit/purl 2 together (k2tog/p2tog), slip slip knit (ssk), yarn over (yo), 3-into-1 symmetrical decrease (s2tog k1 psso), knit front back increase (kfb), chart reading, grafting with kitchener stitch, blocking
