Belle Shawl
If you know my designs, you know I LOOOOOOVE garter. I haven’t always been garter crazy (it seemed like a beginner stitch, and I wanted to knit something more difficult) but there are times when a simple garter stitch scarf/shawl looks so gorgeous, is squishy and cozy and the PERFECT project for social/TV knitting.
I’m a huge fan of the knit stitch…I find something beautiful and soothing about the rhythm of just knitting away for hours.
While watching the live action Beauty in the Beast in the theaters there was a SHORT scene in which Belle is outside and has a shawl draped over her shoulders. I loved the simple classic look. I looked for quite some time googling away trying to find a better picture, but evidently, no one else was as obsessed about this piece. I finally found a photo that showed some garter ridges and so I dove right into designing my own version.
I used United by Queensland because I’m obsessed with this yarn and the drape of the finished fabric. Although it is classified as a sport weight…I find that I can substitute in a fingering weight just fine!!
This is knit sideways, beginning with 3 stitches and ending with 2…hello, no binding off!!!!!!
I hope you enjoy this pattern as much as I loved designing it!
