Belle's Bonnet
This is the bonnet that was almost never created.
I had a very specific idea in my mind of what I wanted to knit for my daughter. The bonnet needed to have ties so she couldn’t tear it off. I wanted to have slip stitches against a garter stitch background. Simple, sweet, with beautiful details.
I was halfway through making the hat described above when I saw something similar on Ravelry….too similar. And I was crushed, I really liked the idea in my head. Evidently another designer had too. So back to the drawing board I went.
This time I was a bit more particular, I liked the garter stitch body but extended it along the edge of the bonnet. I liked the slip stitches, but did a different kind of decrease so they were continuous and even across the crown. And I think simple eyelets along the columns keep it interesting. I hope you appreciate the details in this sweet bonnet as much as I do.
