Bells & Lyres
Bells and Lyres is based on the poem “The Voiceless” by Oliver Wendell Holmes (1858) and a story that came to mind as I read the poem and created the pattern. First, here is the poem, a sad rhyme of those that have passed without their voices (music) being heard, but most importantly died without knowing “…the cross without the crown of glory.” These are the people that knew about the gospel and salvation, yet sadly died without accepting Christ.
Chart reading is a necessity when working this pattern. You will be working from 3 different charts, one for the edging and 2 for the central motifs. Chart C is worked on either side of chart B. I am always here for questions.
This is a fun pattern if you love lace. I have to have something to keep my mind engaged or I lose interest in the pattern and the product is never finished. So if you like a challenge, this is one to try.
