Belmont Beret
The Belmont Beret is a slouchy, casual hat that can be made using just a single skein of worsted weight yarn. The slouchy version is perfect for running out to grab a cup of coffee, while the extra slouchy version (pictured) will accommodate a whole head of curls.
SKILLS: tubular cast on, knitting in the round using circular and double pointed needles, making one, decreasing using ssk and k2tog, yarn overs.
MATERIALS: Approximately 160 yards (146 meters) worsted weight yarn for slouchy version; approximately 200 yards (182 meters) worsted weight yarn for extra slouchy version. Shown in Madelinetosh Tosh Vintage.
Size US 7 (4.5mm) 16” circular needles
Size US 7 (4.5mm) double pointed needles
Size US 5 (3.75mm) 16” circular or double pointed needles
Six stitch markers, including one in contrasting color to mark beginning of round
