These mittens are part of the Brontë sisters collection of patterns, and inspiredby the beautiful moors surrounding their family’s home. Charlotte, Emily and Anne used to love taking long walks there, no matter the weather. I like to imagine thatthese delicate fingerless mittens would have helped keep them warm on cold and
windy days out on Haworth moor.

Yarn and notions:

Yarn: 1 skein 50g (200-225 yards) Fingering weight (all one colour, or 40g of Maincolour and 10g of a Contrasting colour)
Sample in Tippy Sock, from Tippy Tree Yarns
Colourway: Charlotte Brontë combo

Needles: 2.75 mm needles (see note below) with a long cable for magic loop (or useyour preferred needles such as 9 in circulars or dpns).
* This pattern features cables which tend to make knits a little tighter. If you are
a naturally tight knitter, you may wish to go up to 3 mm.

Other notions: cable needle, stitch markers, scissors, darning needle

Gauge: 8 sts = 1 inch in stockinette

Sizing:
One size fits most: hand circumference at the palm above thumb 6.5-8 in

  • finished size will be around 6.5 in, and note that some negative ease (or no ease for smaller hands) is preferred for the best fit.
  • For hand circumferences 8 in and up, or for those who prefer a looser fit, Isuggest using 3 mm needles and following the instructions as written.
