The Below The Horizon Mittens are knitted flat in garter stitch and sewn together at the end. A colourful graphic motif is created using the intarsia technique. Each mitten is knitted from the bottom up, beginning with a 2 x 2 rib, then working the base of the palm, where you increase stitches for the thumb. Next, the thumb is knitted flat, then sewn together, after which you return to the body
of the mitten to begin decreasing for the top.

You will knit two mittens with identical construction and almost-identical intarsia patterns, following the charts. When wearing the mittens, the pattern that shows on the palm side of one mitten sits on the back of the hand on the other mitten, and vice versa.
