A gorgeous stranded colourwork sock pattern taking inspiration from the rural landscape of Southwest Scotland, UK.

The design motifs include:
Belted Galloway cows (affectionately known as ‘Belties’)
Rolling hills (such as ‘The Rhinns of Kells’)
Hillside heather
Landscape sculpture (Andy Goldsworthy’s ‘Striding Arches’)
Textures of farming (chevron tractor tyre tracks)

One size is offered (64 stitches).

Sock is cuff down/ heel flap and gusset/ kitchener toe. The knitter could modify to use a heel and toe construction of their preference, and also the colours of their choice.

Gauge measured after gentle hand wash/ flat dried/ minimal blocking.

Designer used Shetland yarn equivalent to Jamieson & Smith 2ply jumper weight (slightly lighter weight than a standard 4 ply fingering weight yarn). Allow 60g of main colour, 20g contrast heel colour, and 5-10g of contrast yarns for colourwork.

This design can be bought in kit form with pattern and 100% Shetland yarn (with extras) from the designer’s etsy shop - Midge Porter Design: https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/MidgePorterDesign
