This 2 for 1 pattern is part of The Bendigo Project, 2025 and will be published on Saturday 8th of March 2025.

The theme for The Bendigo Project in 2025 is stripes, and they are very much present in all of the designs, but with delightful variety: changing directions, textures, rhythm and sequence!

Check out the other patterns in the collection:

The Basic Nonsense Fibonacci Cowl designed by Tess Vandekolk; Long Paddock jumper designed by Vera Marcu; 4 winds scarf and Sunde sweater and top by Susanna Kaartinen

The Bendigo Project Knitalong will commence Sunday 16th March at 2pm via Zoom, and will conclude with a meet up at The Australian Sheep and Wool Show, in Bendigo, Saturday July 19th 2025.

I always love visiting Bendigo. My husband grew up there, and we often find ourselves back in this historic Victorian city visiting family and celebrating holidays – the Bendigo Easter festival is amazing. But as knitters we associate Bendigo with a very different event – the Australian Sheep and Wool Show!

This pattern was inspired by the joy and love our fibre community has for knitting together on shared projects. The idea is that we can all knit this beautiful pair of warm and pretty socks and wear them while attending the Sheep Show. If you cannot attend in person, join in the fun of the Show by wearing your Bendigo Socks in celebration!

As with all the other patterns in my Australian City Sock Collection, there are options so you can build your perfect sock, and this pattern includes instructions for either fingering weight (4ply) or DK weight (8ply) socks - all in one bumper pattern!

The pattern is designed to use either a main skein of self-striping yarn and two contrasting mini skeins or a set of five mini skeins, but you can also knit them up in a single colour, speckled or variegated yarn, or you can go wild with scraps and just have fun!

Grab your sock needles and yarn and join us in knitting up a pair of Bendigo Socks!

This pattern has been tech edited and fully tested. I warmly welcome and feedback or questions about the pattern.

Happy making!

Kath xx
