In December, Elf likes to sit and quietly and watch! Sometimes peaking out from behind the books or a plant pot or hanging from a rail. Elf is always looking out for someone doing a good deed.

A frame of pipe cleaners make Elf super bendy but NOT suitable for children to play with. If he is to be given as a toy then omit the pipe cleaners.

Aran yarn makes the pattern quick to knit. A little experience of increase and decrease is useful. It is made in one piece except for the hat to minimise sewing up. However a lovely piece of knitting can be spoiled by shoddy seams, so mattress stitch is recommended throughout . The pattern uses 3.50mm needles with Aran or Worsted yarn. However a smaller elf could be made using 3mm needles and DK. Yarn. For a smooth soft finish I used Drops Big Merino and Patons superfine Aran.
You will need 50gm Aran - Red or Green
20gm Aran - Flesh orPink
20gm Aran - White or Cream
1 meter brown for hair
1/2 meter blue and deep pink for eyes and mouth
8-10 pipe cleaners
waste yarn to bind
high loft filler.
2 yarn holders or waste yarn
large darning needle
