Benroy The Baby Lion is a sweet little lion knitted out of self striping yarn. Benroy means “son of a lion.” He is ready to tackle his first day of play school and his first game of rugby! He can be made for anyone and any occasion! He is a great little stash buster and a quick knit. Benroy The Baby Lion is 14cm or 5.5 inches tall.

Materials: 3.5mm (3US or 10UK) knitting needles, and 2 double pointed knitting needles, small crochet hook for adding the mane and tail - I used a 2.5mm hook, 30g or 1 ounce of Elle Fairy’s Delight Double Knit Yarn in colour Laila (312), stuffing, black embroidery thread, 8mm gold safety eyes, small piece of black felt, 12mm black safety nose, 20cm or 8 inches of 3mm white satin ribbon, and a 2cm or 0.8 inch blue plastic pacifier

Yarn Substitutions: It is often difficult to get the exact same yarn as stated in a pattern. You can substitute any listed yarn with another yarn of the same weight to achieve a similar look and size.

Methods Used: Cast on using the thumb method, Knit or garter stitch, Purl, Stocking stitch, M1R - Make 1 Right - Make 1 stitch by picking up the bar in between two stitches from back to front and knitting into the front of it, M1L - Make 1 Left - Make 1 stitch by picking up the bar in between two stitches from front to back and knitting into the back of it, KFB - Knit into the front and the back of a stitch, SKPO - Slip one stitch knit wise, knit one stitch, pull the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch, K2tog - Knit 2 stitches together as 1, Cast off, I-cord - knit a tube using two double pointed knitting needles, Sew the pieces together using mattress stitch.

Gauge: Gauge is not important in this pattern. Just make sure that your knitted fabric is tight enough so that the stuffing doesn’t show through.
