Ben's Bug Bracelet
These bracelets are a more comfortable, breathable, and attractive way to house the scented mosquito repellent discs that our family uses to avoid bites. They are very flexible in terms of sizing. You can easily modify the length to accommodate and size wrist or ankle, just follow the instructions in the pattern.
Gauge isn’t terribly critical as long as it is wide enough to hold whichever mosquito repellent disc you use.
If you wish to modify the number of stitches you are using, you’ll need to adjust a bit with a decrease or increase to make the two patterns work out well.
Linen stitch works nicely over an even number of stitches, but at the button hole, the stitches are split into two halves and the linen stitch is continued. As a result, it is easier to have these two halves also have an even number of stitches, leading us to a multiple of 4 being ideal.
The punchwork pouch is worked over a multiple of 3 stitches, so casting on 12 stitches allows for not only the proper width for most people but also the easiest construction. If you want to alter this, you’ll just need to adjust your stitch counts to work with each pattern.
These are great for using up little bits of leftover sock yarn. They take very little yarn.
