Beorn is a Northman, a Shape-shifter, Skinchanger, and the last of his kind. He has the ability to change his form between that of large man and large bear. He was held in captivity (as were most of his kind), enslaved by Azog The Defiler, escaped, and continues to wear a chain on his wrist as a reminder of that time.

This pattern includes instructions for both fingerless and full mittens and it is also available written for worsted weight yarn.

These mitts are a companion to the Beorn (DK) hat. You can knit both the fingerless mitts and the Beorn hat from one skein of the recommended yarn, but it is a very tight squeeze (the sample yielded less than two yards remaining).
