Bergen
This pattern is from Travel Knits for the Family, Volume 1 - Into the Cold, which will be released on May 25th. For more information on the book click here. For travel stories and inspiration for the patterns, check out cowtownknits.com.
Bergen the hat, though looking a bit intricate, is actually a minor variation away from being a basic ribbed cap. Simple cables every few rounds create a diamond lattice effect while the decreases at the top bring all the knit stitches neatly together.
The stitch pattern is very stretchy so if you knit the hat a size or two bigger for a child it will fit them for a good long time. Make it in the same yarn as the Oslo Mittens for a matching set.
