Bernadette’s Shawl, designed by Rosemary (Romi) Hill, is worn by Clea’s foster mother throughout Chest of Bone. No sweet old granny, Bernadette wears a derringer on her hip and often sports a turban on her head.

Finished size: About 72” (183 cm) in width; about 20” (51 cm) in depth.

Materials needed: US 8 (5 mm): 24” or 32” (60 or 80 cm) circular and 1 double-pointed for edging. Stitch markers, tapestry needle, cable needle, blocking wires, t-pins.
