The hat is worked from top to bottom, with Judy’s Magic Cast On which gives an almost invisible cast on-edge. The hat is worked in the round with increases on each round until you are left with the correct number of stitches. Finally, work 2 rounds of double knitting before casting off with Italian cast-off.

Since the hat is worked from the top down, it can be tried on during the process by putting the stitches on one long circular needle/looper/thread to determine how long it should be worked. Please note that some yarn qualities stretch more than others after washing, which can result in the hat being longer than first expected. If desired, it can be sewn in a thin elastic at the bottom of the hat to keep it firm along the opening.
