Berries on the Vine Scarf
This Lacy scarf is a lot easier to knit than it looks! It features a simple vine stitch loaded with berries! The berries are really very easy and are fun to knit which adds texture to an otherwise common pattern stitch, also easily worked!
The scarf is worked from the bottom up and is joined in the center for a balanced lacy design. Work with a chart or follow the written out instructions for the chart if desired for ease in knitting.
Finished measurements: 59”(150cm) long x 5” (12cm) wide.
Yarn: 340 yards wool yarn in sport weight. Yarn used for sample: 2 balls Knitpicks Brava Sport in color—sky; 100% Premium Acrylic; 273 yards/100 grams per ball. (If using Acrylic yarn you must steam block the scarf to prevent the sides from curling in. It is recommended that you use wool as it can be blocked and will hold its shape better). Recommended yarn is 3 balls of Knitpicks Wool of the Andes Sport Yarn in color—wonderland heather; 100% Peruvian Highland wool; 137 yards/50 grams per ball. (Also, if you want to use worsted weight yarn for this pattern, you would most likely need about 1 yard per row worked or at least 400 yards; and size 9 U.S. single point needles).
Needles and Notions: Size U.S. 5 (3.75mm) single point needles plus one spare to hold work; yarn needle to work Kitchener Stitch and sew in all loose ends.
