Three times each day during spring and summer, I leave the farm and take to the forest path. Together with my flock of Grå Trønder sheep, we follow along the pathway and climb the mountain. We walk deeper and deeper into the forest until we reach the forest glade, where my little flock frolics and grazes among the forest trees.

The «Berry Picking on the Path Hap» was inspired by these late summer journeys. This is the time of year when I can fill my bucket with berries, as my little flock grazes. Wild blueberries, raspberries, strawberries and ligonberries are plentiful within our forest. Such beautiful gifts of nature!

Picking berries in the forest has always been one of my favourite late summer activities here in Norway.

It has been important to me to capture my berry picking adventures on the path and the wonderful memories which encapsulate this time of year, within this design.

This is an extra-large, light, drapey, rustic, triangular shaped Hap. It is knit top down, beginning with a garter stitch tab. Using a slip stitch technique, a three dimetional forest path is created down the center. I have designed a blueberry heather, all over lace, which features a knitted bobble to embellish the Hap and to reflect the wild forest blueberries which grow within our forest.

The Hap is finished with a modfied blueberry heather lace, a stretchy bind off and small tassels which embelish the tapered edging.

Planning your project:
You will need 5 balls of Rauma PT 2 garn, for a total of 250 grams and 875 meters. The Hap was designed and knit with Colour 4123.

Please also note: I designed this Hap to use as much of the five balls of yarn as possible. I had 13 grams of yarn left after the finishing - which included the making of the tassels.

This Hap was designed to use only 100% pure wool.
