Berry Pie Coaster
Who doesn’t love berry pies? The tangy yet sweet filling, combined with the warm crumbly crust, paired with whip cream or vanilla ice cream, it’s a dream come true.
The color change is pretty minimal in this pattern and the use of magic loop is optional. I rated the pattern as intermediate as it uses a couple slightly more complex stitches and requires sewing, but the majority of the pattern is really quite easy. Don’t worry if you feel like you are not at the intermediate skill level yet! The pattern includes detailed instructions as well as photos for most of the steps, so I have confidence you would have no problem making your own berry pie coaster even if you are just get started with crocheting!
For the coasters in the photos, I used 100% cotton yarn from Sugar’n Cream. Each skein is 2.5oz and can make many coasters. I recommend using cotton yarn for coasters as they are more absorbent and heat resistant than synthetic fibers or animal fibers and they provide better structure. They are also machine washable so they are easier to clean and maintain if they get stained from your beverage.
The coaster should measure around 4 inches in diameter, suitable for most mugs, cups, cans, and bottles. Keep in mind that the coaster is a bit thick comparing to some other coasters I’ve designed due to the added crust on top, but I’ve used it for coffee and soda with no issues.
